I have just had an email conversation with one of my subscribers about choosing the low-budget hosting with better performance and decent support.
I decided that these thoughts would be also helpful for others.
Here’s in short I’m explaining why I recommend Hawkhost and GeekStorage and use them as benchmark for comparison with other hosts in this pricing segment.
My argument is that both HawkHost and GeekStorage focus on performance and adequate tech support before all.
And these two hosts are like my benchmarks to see what it costs for a decent host to provide a both good performance and support for as more affordable price as possible.
When looking at other hosts, I see what they offer and for what price. and if their pricing goes lower that what GeekStorage or HawkHost offer for similar resources, then I make a conclusion those hosts compromise somewhere on performance or support compared to HawkHost or GeekStorage.
HH and GS don’t input much into marketing or other extra-tools which may add up to the price. So these hosts are like the best options for better performance (speed, stability) with decent support that I keep an eye on with no extra add-ons for extra money.
So, my point is that although other hosts may promise more for less price than HH or GS, there are still no miracles and you still will need to pay this way or another (for example, after renewal the price may significantly increase like with A2 Hosting).
The only cheaper option for reliably better performance is to go self-managed option with no technical support like DigitalOcean. But you need to be tech-savvy enough for that.
So my general resume is that you likely either need to pay more for better performance and disk space, or have to bear with more risks of worse performance (worse stability of performance) or/and worse support.
